Euro-Asian Graduate School in Systems medicine and Bioengineering

Advances in our understanding of nano/molecular biology promise to revolutionize medicine and open the door to diagnostics and therapies that will be tailored to individuals. But growing barriers between basic biology and clinical research, along with the ever the increasing complexities involved in conducting clinical research, are making it more and more difficult to translate new knowledge to the bedside– and back again to the bench. A broad re-engineering effort is needed to develop collaborative solutions using both data from bench and bedside, to produce knowledge and to improve the quality of millions of lives. In the framework of product life cycle management, it is necessary to include iterative steps and feedback loops, changing linear tools in spiral ones.

The BioHealth Computing Graduate School aims at forming a new generation of investigators that will be able to exploit (and further enhance) cutting-edge technologies in Life and Health Sciences, to design and to implement – typically in multi-disciplinary work teams – innovative solutions that take into account the needs of the patients and the expectations of the stakeholders. The development of Systems medicine and Bioengineering will overcome the current limitations of disease control and drug discovery, and lay the foundation for a prospective, predictive, personalized, preventive and participatory medicine (4P-Medicine). It will enhance patient care and help controlling escalating health expenditure.

The BioHealth Computing Consortium, gathering ten Euro-Asian Universities, has developed partnerships with Associate partners including University Hospitals, Bio-industry Parks, Competitiveness Clusters, and Life Sciences Industries, to speed the translation of new knowledge from the bench to the bedside – and back again to the bench, to improve the development of diagnosis and therapeutic applications accessible to clinicians and patients, and to foster the emergence of small innovative companies.

The students involve in the BioHealth Computing Graduate School, Master’s and Doctorate’s Programmes, should learn to improve our understanding of human health, and to design innovative tools by working on a joint research program associating: Clinical Research, Nano/Molecular Biotechnology, Environmental/Animal Health, and Computational Mathematics. The innovative programme of the BioHealth Computing Graduate School is based on mobility of the students and of the scholars, exchanging experiences and establishing a common high quality standard in education, training and research.
